For several weeks, I have been helping assemble a 2000 piece jigsaw puzzle.
A few weeks ago , we finally completed it. Considering the size and that it took about six weeks to complete, it’s something to be proud of.
Puzzles are interesting creatures. When they are finally assembled, they make perfect
sense, but in the agonizing moments it takes to try and fail and try again with each piece, it
seems like a fragmented make of possibilities, each leading in a different direction. Life is like that. It doesn’t always go the way we planned it. It doesn’t always make sense. Yet when we can finally stand back and see God’s hand in the bigger picture, the pieces fall into place. Another thing about puzzles: they’re less daunting when tackled by more then one person. The trying and failing and trying again goes by faster. Coming in every weekend and seeing the progress that has been made was encouraging and adding to it was rewarding.
Even though we are all responsible for the progress in our own lives, we need each other-
to make sense of the puzzle of life, to try and fail and try again to make the pieces fit, to point
out to one another what the bigger picture might look like.
Puzzles are interesting creatures. Like life, and we need each other to tackle them. One
day, it wont all seem so puzzling.
